Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer: Capturing Timeless Moments

Hello, I’m Joshua Haken, your dedicated Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer. While my photography speaks for itself, I invite you to take a moment to learn about my journey and what makes my approach unique.

Based in the picturesque city of Oxford along the River Thames, I find inspiration in the beautiful county of Oxfordshire, which is a breathtaking backdrop for your wedding. Whether it’s the historic Ashmolean Museum, the elegant Oxford Town Hall, the iconic Bodleian Library, the charming Oxford Spires, or my favourite venue, The Magdalen College Chapel (be sure to check out my Real Weddings page), Oxfordshire offers countless amazing locations to celebrate your special day

The Process

  • Pre Wedding Meeting

The first thing I like to do is organise a pre-wedding meeting with my couples. This is usually a Zoom call that lasts approximately 45 minutes, during which we discuss the various aspects of your wedding day. I have a set questionnaire that I fill out during the call, and then I email it to you to fill out the minor details.

  • Bridal or Groom Preperation

Not all couples want bridal or groom preparation shots, but I always recommend them. As a documentary-style photographer, I like to document the day in its entirety, and preparation shots are a great addition to the gallery.

  • Ceremony

During the ceremony, you will barely know I am there. I tend to float around the room, capturing the day’s RAW emotions. I like to give the Bride & Groom privacy during this special moment and will keep my distance whilst still capturing beautiful images.

  • Celebration

After the ceremony, it is usually a good time to take group shots, as all the guests are in one place and are still relatively sober. Then, in true documentary photographer fashion, I will walk around the room, capturing all the moments that capture my eye. Again, I don’t like to be obtrusive, but if the situation allows me to, I will get closer to my subject to capture the best images.

  • Wedding Breakfast

As an Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer, the most important thing for me is the speeches during the Wedding Breakfast. Some of the best photos are taken during the speeches, although this does depend on how good the speeches are. I will walk around the room, capturing the laughter and sometimes tears of the wedding guests and the sheer joy of the Bride & Groom. When the speeches are over, I usually leave the room and back some footage, as nobody wants a picture of them stuffing their face with Beef Wellington.

  • Bride & Groom

The Bride & Groom photos.. these are the photos you will truly cherish your entire lives and will end up on many mantel pieces. Many people book me as their Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer because of my approach to the couple shots. Of course, there is an element of posing; this can’t be avoided, but I like to do this naturally and stylishly. I will walk my couple around the wedding venue, finding the best light and then ask my couple to do a few things, whether walking towards me holding hands or asking the groom to help the bride walk down the stairs.

  • First Dance | Cake Cut

    and everything else

The first dance is a great time to take some fantastic pictures. You will not even know I am there because you will be thinking about your “dance routine”, but I will be there capturing every beautiful flow of the bride’s wedding dress and the fantastic shapes the guests are throwing.

  • Online Gallery

Within 1 to 2 days, you will receive some Sneaky Peaks of your wedding day. Then, you’ll have to wait 2 to 3 weeks to receive your entire Perfect Oxfordshire Wedding online gallery. You can view, download and share your photos from your online gallery.
